Removing a license from a Redpanda Cluster
Last updated: August 10, 2026
Problem Statement
For a Self Hosted Redpanda cluster, once a license is applied this will always show within the cluster, even if the license is applied via Helm Chart and the license section is later removed.
This can be problematic in older versions of Redpanda Console, as console can fail to load when a license is not present.
Solution
It is not possible to remove a license from a Redpanda cluster once applied. If you have a trial license that has expired or you have stopped using Redpanda Enterprise and it's associated enterprise features, you will want to upgrade to Redpanda Console version 2.8.3 or above.
With this version and up, you can use Redpanda Console with an expired license with no negative impact to console.
