Support of the franz-go Kafka Client

Last updated: August 11, 2026

Overview

franz-go is a popular and well-regarded Golang client for Apache Kafka, and as such is also fully compatible with Redpanda.

Within Redpanda (both the company and the software) we make extensive use of franz-go as our Golang client of choice, and we are aware that a large number of our customers as users do the same.

It is important to note, however, that the franz-go project is not owned by Redpanda, and as such we do not directly offer support for this as part of any Enterprise Support agreement.

Detail

Redpanda as a company is, however, very closely linked to the franz-go project.  As such, we are able to share context for any issues or problems encountered, and we're keen to make sure that these can be resolved as soon as possible if they lie within franz-go.

Wherever a Support Ticket involves franz-go, we'll work from a Support perspective to identify or rule out any issue within Redpanda itself (or any other supported component). If we identify an issue that is in a 3rd party client (whether or not that client is franz-go), we will generally direct you to pursue this with that client's maintainer/vendor. In the case that this is franz-go, we'll of course also make sure that as much context as possible is shared from our side to help drive this, but we would generally then look to close any associated Support Ticket on the Redpanda side if there was no issue in Redpanda itself.
