How to set a Private Link for the existing public-networked cluster?

Last updated: August 10, 2026

Problem Statement

The doc says both Dedicated and BYOC Redpanda Cloud Clusters can set a Private Link. Can I set it on an existing "public-networked" Cloud cluster?

Solution

You can set a Private Link in the existing public cluster. You need to use APIs as the doc describes, as no GUI can enable it in this case. Even after enabling the Private Link, the UI currently does not show any Private Link settings or network info. Therefore, you must use the API to confirm the settings were enabled. Once enabled, you can access the cluster from a public network, and the VPC can be connected through the private link.
Please note that once a Private Link is set in their VPC, the apps running in the VPC must update the ports accordingly.
